BEAUTY BY THE BEDSIDE

My nightstand is a favorite little beauty spot for me. If you’re like me, you don’t want to get up for anything once you’re in the bed. As soon as I hit those sheets, I’m done till the sun comes up. So I make sure my nightstand is stashed with my essentials.

1. Aquaphor Lip Treatment as you know is a total go-to all year round. I listed it here as one of my obsessions cause I can’t live without it. In addition to my makeup bag and drawer at work, I keep one on the nightstand. Works as that nighttime lip treatment that we all need, especially in the Winter.

2. Face Wipes. This can be one of many. Currently I’m using OleHenriksen which I LOVE!

3. CAUDALIE Vinoperfect Radiance Serum. LOVE LOVE LOVE! I got a little travel size bottle of this serum and it’s too good! A girl is ready for full size!

4. Foot Cream. My go to at the moment is the AHAVA Deadsea Water Mineral Foot Cream. Given to me as a gift and now a staple.

5. Last but not least, for a calm sleep I like to spray my pillows with the Mystic Antidotes Calming Pillow Spray in Lavender Sage. Aroma therapy works! This was a cheap find from T.J. Maxx. Instant love affair!

Those are just a few of my bedside staples. Simple and easy. Perfect for those long days when I spend less time in the bathroom working on a nighttime routine. Do you have bedside beauty products that you love? Share with me! I’d love to hear.

DECEMBER 2015 OBSESSION

Ugh!I literally get obsessed on a monthly basis, maybe even weekly! This month is no different. I finally gave this product a try after months of debating. I wish I didn’t wait so long…

COVER FX CUSTOM COVER DROPS is a game changer in makeup! A co-worker of mine put me on and I’m hooked. What I love about this product is that it’s buildable. It can go from everyday makeup to glam in a drop! For everyday makeup I use one drop and my face still looks flawless. It’s lightweight yet it still gives me the coverage I need. The part that’s even better, is that it can be mixed with any of your favorite skincare products like your moisturizer, primer, face oil, etc. I mix my cover fx drops with my everyday favorite Bobbi Brown Tinted Moisturizing Balm. After mixing and applying I just dab a little face powder to lock it in. Done!

If this isn’t the easiest most efficient makeup to you then I challenge you to top it!
Drop me a line; I’m waiting!

DIY SKINCARE!!! HOMEMADE & NOURISHING!

I have been the queen of product obsession for years. The list of skincare, haircare, cosmetic brands in my aparment can go on for days! But lately I’ve revisited my once LOVE for DIY (DO IT YOURSELF) products for the skin. Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t thrown out my Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Cleanser, let’s not get carried away, but here’s a list of my favorite DIY products. All made in my kitchen and a surefire way to embrace an all natural living 😉

1. Daily Moisturizing Body Oil (Summer): I love a light misty oil in the Summer. You don’t want anything too heavy in the hot months but strong enough to keep the skin dewy. Mix coconut oil and rose water in a small spray bottle. This combination creates a light fragrance and keeps the body feeling fresh. If it’s solidified, place the bottle in a cup of warm water while you’re showering. It’ll be ready to spray on your damp skin shortly after.

2. Daily Moisturizing Body Butter (Winter): I mean, just talking about this makes me happy! I’m probably happier in the winter months just becuase I get to use the heavy stuff! With Winter knocking on our door, I’ll be busy for the next few months. Here you go; super easy: Mix raw shea butter, coconut oil, and almond oil in a small jar. Boom, done! This combined with an exfoliator (see #3) during the harsh winter months will have your skin feeling like a baby’s bottom!

3. Weekly Exfoliator: HELLO! Have we met? You should already know this is my favorite. My DIY Brown Sugar Scrub not only tackles dead skin cells on my dry skin, but is highly requested by my friends and family! I’m going to start CHARGING! Mix raw brown sugar, coconut oil, almond oil, jojoba oil and honey(optional) in a small jar and keep it in your shower. I can tell you from experience this is a great gift! It comes from the heart!

4. Weekly Hair Oil (Pre-Shampoo): I’m convinced that this concoction of oils makes my tresses thick and healthy. Get a bottle with a nozzle for easy application and mix grapeseed oil, sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil, avacado oil, rosemary essential oil, tea tree essential oil together for a hair treatment that has you wanting more! This particular mix is for before shampooing. The rosemary scent is quite strong and isn’t recommended for everyday use. For an even deeper moisturizer, warm this mix up and create your own hot oil treatment.

5. Daily Hair Spray (For Braids, Locs, Twists): A few months ago I was sporting Senegalese Twists in my hair which I absolutely LOVED, btw. It’s important to treat my hair underneath styles like this so that it isn’t too dry and brittle. I created a daily spray that boosted the moisture up and kept my twists looking fresh. In a spray bottle, add 3 parts water and 1 part vegetable glycerin, tea tree essential oil, and jojoba oil. I LOVE THIS MIX! For natural textures, moisture is essential, regularly.

6. Daily Post-Workout Scalp Spray: So this is super important; especially when you’re in a protective hairstyle. After a workout or simply when you feel your scalp needs a little something extra without the hassle of washing, it’s crucial to freshen the scalp and keep too much buildup from happening. We all can’t wash our hair every single day so here’s a trick I do for inbetween washes. It’s simple! Mix 100% pepermint oil with a little bit of jojoba oil. Don’t overdue the jojoba; the point is to avoid buildup. What the peppermint does is breaks up the salt from the sweat on your scalp! Amazing right? It’ also gives a little tingle and cooling sensation which can feel quite refreshing after a hard workout!

7. Sugar Lip Scrub: Have you seen my lips? SOFT! LOL 🙂 Here’s the trick: Mix Brown Sugar (or white sugar) with a little bit of olive oil (you can also use coconut oil or honey) and pop it into a small jar. If you scrub your lips every other night, you’ll see a major difference! Trust me, this is an all year round essential!

I hope my list inspired you to get in the kitchen and start mixing. We love healthy skin and hair. There’s no better way to improve them than using what comes from the earth. Work on it! 😉 You know you want to! What are some of your favorite DIY skincare/haircare products? Share with us!

SIMPLE, CLEAN, EVERYDAY MAKE UP

Amongst my close friends and family, I’d say I take my daily make up game one or two steps further then some of them do. For example, I pretty much have a winged cat eye every single day. I don’t feel like myself without it! And if I’m sans wings, I have lash extensions on. I also love a bold lip here and there.

For some, make up is great but keeping it basic is key. Here are four make up essentials that will keep you looking bright and refreshed every day without doing too much!

1. NUDE LIP: This is not to be confused with a bare lip! A nude lip really brings out that pucker without being too bold. Shiny or Matte is fine either way. My preference is matte and rich!

2. MASCARA: You may not want a winged eyeliner like me, but just a touch of mascara will do. It brings out your eye without having to go full smokey! If you really don’t want to be bothered with the application, my little lazy make up tool that gives me total glam is lash extensions. Ok, Ok, it takes a little maintenance to keep this up, but just think, one hour out of your month and you can wake up every day looking like you’ve had a restful night! Check out my post on making those eyes pop here!

3. PRESSED POWDER: Getting a light pressed powder is great because that caked look that you’re afraid of will never happen. By getting your true shade, you can make your skin have a matte clean finish without the layers. It’s quite nice when you use this powder with your nude lip. Natural and beautiful to the max. Here’s a favorite sheer pressed powder of mine if you’re having troube choosing: MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder

4. BLUSH: So we want to keep it simple and clean right? A great way to bring up the finish from your pressed powder is with a blush in a soft shade. You pretty much could choose a shade that works and stick with it forever…I’m talking to my simple make up wearers out there lol! I switch it up all the time but stick to the soft pinks, peachy, and raisin shades, all depending on your skin tone for the effect that works best for you!

That’s it! Four essentials. That isn’t too much right? It doesn’t have to be a big production every day. If you want to make your face brighten up just a touch without a 30 minute contour session, use these four tools and you’ll be set!
